essentiALZ® Certification Support

  • I can't sign in to my account.
    • If you completed the CARES® training, you were pre-registered with the Alzheimer's Association Training and Education Center.

    • You will need to log in as an "Existing User", using the email address and password you created when registering for the CARES® online training program.



    • If you do not remember your password, click the "Create or Reset Your Password" link.



    • You will receive an email shortly containing a link to set your new password via email and logging you directly into your account.  If you don't see the email within a few minutes, please check your "SPAM" or "Junk" folder.



    • Follow the link to set your password.  Your password must be a minimum of 8 characters with at least one number and a special character (e.g., #,$,%).  Please write down your username (email address) and password for future use.

    • NOTICE:  Due to security changes on some emails systems, when you request to create or reset your password, the automatic email you receive may not contain the link required to complete the process. Should this occur, please click here to contact us.
  • I have logged into my account, but cannot access my exams.
    • The essentiALZ Certification Exam for Dementia Basics is the required prerequisite exam for all essentiALZ Plus exams. If you receive an error message similar to the one below, please contact HealthCare Interactive to confirm the status of your training completion.




  • I would like to see my exam results.
    • You have access to your results anytime.  Once you have completed your exam, go to your active training activities.



    • Find the exam for which you want results and click on the name to review results by topic area.  If you passed the exam you will have an option to print your certificate.



    • For results, click on "Attempts", click on the blue link that corresponds with the exam attempt for which you want results.



    • You will then have a window with your attempts and your results by topic area.  You can click on the BLUE print button to print a report of your results.




What happens if I fail the exam?

You have two attempts to pass the exam. If you fail the second attempt, please speak with your administrator or contact HealthCare Interactive to discuss options to retake the training.

  • I need to print my certificate.
    • You have access to print your certificate at any time.  Once you have passed your exam, go to your active training activities.



    • Find the exam for which you want the certificate and click on the name.  You will then have an option to print your certificate by clicking on the purple button.



    • Once your certificate appears on your screen, you can print the document or save it to your computer.

  • My certificate has expired.  What do I do?
    • essentiALZ certification is good for two years.  Your certification expiration date is printed on your certificate.



    • If your certification has expired, you will need to retake the appropriate training . Please contact HealthCare Interactive to discuss training options.

  • While you are taking the exam
    • There are two features that may be helpful if you get "stuck" on a question.  On each question, you will see a box in the top left corner with options to "pin for follow-up" or "my notes".

      • Pin for Follow-Up - By checking this box, you can earmark a question for follow up.

        • Once you have completed your exam questions, you will have a chance to review "pinned" questions before you submit your answers.



      • My Notes - Click the "My Notes" button if you are not sure about an answer and want to jot down your thoughts as you move on to the next question.



        • Once you click on the "My Notes" button, you have some "virtual scratch paper" to record your thoughts.



        • When you have completed the exam, you will have a chance to review your "My Notes" prior to submitting your exam.  On the "Submit answers" page, questions that have notes will be identified by a 'notes' symbol.  You can click on that to return to the question (& your notes) or choose to submit your answers now.



  • Archive
    • If you find that your "Training Activities" page is too long or full of courses, you can use the "archive" feature to keep your information available, but not only visible when you want to see it.



    • From your Training Activities page, click on "Archive".
    • This will hide the exam/course from your page.  When you want to retrieve that information to print your certificate, review results or other, click on "View archive" from your "Training Activities" page.



    • You will then see the exam/course and all options.



    • If you want to return the exam/course to your "Training Activities", click the "restore" button.

  • How do I log-in?
    • If you have a new essentiALZ exam enrollment code, you must log-in under New Enrollment Code to activate this exam in your account. If you are returning to complete your exam and check the status of your results, you must log-in under Returning to Continue.
    • After selecting either New Enrollment Code or Returning to Continue, if you are unsure whether you are a New or Existing user, you may enter your email address as a new user to conduct a search.
    • Click Create Account and enter your email address to search.





    • An error message will appear if you already have an account in the system.



  • I can’t remember my password
    • If you do not remember your password, click the "Create or Reset Your Password" link.

    • You have access to your results anytime. After logging into your account, select My Training and Active Trainings.
    • Find the exam for which you want results and click on the name to review results by topic area.



    • For results, click on "Attempts", click on the blue link that corresponds with the exam attempt for which you want results. From this screen you can also print your completion certificate.



    • Click the blue link corresponding to each attempt to view your results by topic area.



    • You will then have a window with your attempts and your results by topic area. Select Print to PDF to print.

  1. To reprint a certificate, open your Active Programs page and locate the training you have completed.




  2. Click the course title and then look for the "Print Completion Certificate" button at the bottom of the course page.




  3. Your certificate will open as a PDF to print or save at your convenience.

  1. To reset your password, please click here and enter your email address.  
  2. Within a few minutes you will receive an email with a link to set your new password.  If you do not see the email within 5 minutes, please check your SPAM folder.
